This tour was well worth the money. It was a full day for sure. Our guide Luis, was very knowledgeable about Tomar, the Knight Templars, the castles, the Convent of Christ, the aqueduct was amazing, and the history that went along with each. He took us to a very unique but awesome medieval restaurant Taverna Antiqua for lunch. The only negatives I have are that the vehicle was too small for 5, sixty something people. Also WithLocals actually switched guides on us. We didn't get the person we originally requested and didn’t find that out until the day of the tour. I hadn’t noticed because they were both name Luis. It turned out well, but I was not happy about that. Other than that is was a good day. Tomar excursion

Luis was a fabulous guide for our trip to Fatima and Tomar. He customized the day and pivoted easily when we wanted to do some souvenir shopping. He took us for a lunch that was one of the best of our holiday. Luis is knowledgeable about the history of Portugal. We left with a sense of the rich culture history and diversity in Portugal. We chose this tour because of our interest in Medieval history and the Crusades. It also was a plus that this amazing historical site is off the beaten tourist path. Joao really brought magic to the day with his thoughtful insights and stories that wove together centuries of Portuguese history, culture and politics all the way up to the present day. He also provided a healthy dose of Dan Brown/DaVinci Code myth-busting to the discussion. To top things off we had a great lunch al fresco at the foot of the Roman bridge crossing a gently flowing river running through the picturesque town of Tomar. It was arguably the best day we spent on our two-week vacation in Portugal. Back to the future

We booked an all day tour to visit some of the Templar Knights historical sites with Our guide Luis. He picked us up at our vacation spot and drove us through the country for our tour to Tomar. Luis is an encyclopedia of knowledge! He was apt at showing us all of the interesting locations and very detailed knowledge of the sites you would not get with the larger tours. Our pace was perfect and comfortable for an all day adventure going as fast or slow as we wanted and we also came home with some fantastic photography. My husband and I love to learn on our travels and have taken some fully-guided trips such as with Road Scholar. This time we decided to tailor our own, staying in Lisbon and hiring local guides, and we were fortunate to find Sylvia, who is so enthusiastic and knowledgeable! We took the Knights Templar tour and felt like we were stepping back into history. From the boat ride to access a medieval fortress in the morning fog, to a delicious lunch in a restored centuries- old tavern, she knew how to get us to important sites. We could easily have gone through the Convent of Christ in Tomar on our own without learning many of the details which brought tears to my eyes. Most importantly, she was flexible in meeting the interests we expressed. My husband mentioned that part of his family is Jewish. She knew about , and took us to, a restored museum and synagogue in Tomar. Not only does she know history, but she answered many of our questions about life in Portugal today. She made our day a delight!History with enthusiasm!

We are a family of four visiting Portugal for the first time. Joao took us to Tomar to visit the beautiful Convent of Christ and the Almourol Castle on our last day in Portugal. The church and castle are so beautiful but I believe Joao made a difference in our experience. He is knowledgeable, kind, patience, and very generous with his time. We feel we have had a brief history lesson of Portugal; a glimpse of how the Knights Templar had affected and shaped the history of Portugal. We also learned the way of life of Portugal through Joao. Joao also took us to the historical town of Tomar and had a unique medieval lunch at a local restaurant. We enjoy our leisure lunch and drinks as Portuguese do and chatted and hanged out like friends. Our young adult children also enjoyed this tour tremendously and commented how much they learned on this tour. Joao has gone above and beyond on this tour-way past the 9 hours of the tour. He took us back to Lisbon at the end of the tour, dropped us off at the Time-out market to make sure we could try the Pasteis de Nata of Manteigaria as we wish and showed us where to buy the wines we want to bring home. Then also suggested where we should have our last seafood dinner in Lisbon. We have had a wonderful day with Joao and will not hesitate to recommend Joao. The best day!!!! Joao was so nice and extremely knowledgeable about the history of Lisbon. We felt like we got to cover the entire city during our tour and had a complete idea of the layout of the city, what each part of the city was like from a local perspective and learned a ton about the Portuguese culture. Joao was interesting, really friendly, and easy to talk to for the several hour tour. We arrived in Lisbon the day before and had been climbing all the hills to get around so when we met Joao and he showed us how to get around with better routes where you didn’t have to hike up all the steep hills, it changed the way we explored the rest of the city during our trip. We’d definitely suggest his tour to anyone visiting! Joao was great Best way to discover Lisbon

This was our first time in Portugal, and the day with Lius was one of the best experiences we've had! He communicated with us before the tour and accommodated with a later start and ending due to personal reasons. We never felt rushed. He was highly knowledgeable about the history and the details of everything. He provided history along the way, an added bonus! He also gave us a brief but nice shopping break in Cascais. I cannot imagine this tour without a guide like Lius. He provided us with excellent touring tips for the following day. He is also super fun! This was our 1st time in Portugal and this tour enabled us to see Obidos, Fatima, and then remain in Nazare, our next destination after Lisbon. Our tour guide Luis was absolutely fantastic! He was really fun to travel with and extremely knowledgeable about the history of all places en route! We never felt rushed and had the perfect amount of time at each town. And when we arrived in Nazare, he assisted us in checking in to our next hotel and orienting us to other aspects (restaurants, etc). Again, we chose not to return to Lisbon. Luis did a wonderful job keeping us informed and meeting us in a timely manner. Saw so many churches and beautiful sights, such as the Sao Roque, the Gloria elevator, the Se church, church of St. Dominic, history of the area, the plazas, the people and Porteguese rulers. We passed by so many areas and learned so much! Also had time for a water break, cherry liquor (ginjinha), and custard pastries! It was so worth doing, I highly recommend.wonderful day in Lisbon!

Really enjoyed our walking tour with David. He is very personable and knowledgeable. Alexandru exceeded all expectations. My wife had a sore ankle and Alexandru adjusted the day's trip to Cabo da Roca, Sintra and Cascais to minimize the walking. We booked our food tour last minute (within two hours of the tour). David was very responsive! He showed us around the city, giving us a lot of history about Lisbon, the food, the drinks. We tried many different foods which were all very tasty. And it's fun to walk around town with a local and get little tid bits along the way. He certainly went the extra mile, showing us different rooftops, ways to get around Lisbon, and truly a lot of history, which we really enjoyed. I would highly suggest David to anyone.
