We had such a wonderful day with Tiago. He was a fantastic host and tour guide. We had our 2 year old daughter with us and he was just so wonderful with her. He made our day extra special. The tour was excellent - he was so knowledgeable and took us through the valley for a port tasting and tour, boat trip on the river and we stopped for lunch for some of the best food we had while on this trip. Helena arrived at our hotel on time to pick us up, we were immediately at ease with her friendly personality. The drive to the Douro Valley was both scenic and very interesting, we stopped for coffee and scenic photo opportunities. The boat trip in Peniche was relaxing and the scenery beautiful followed by a very enjoyable lunch. The highlight was then the visit to the small family wine estate Quinta Seara d’Ordens, a beautiful winery, off the beaten track, stunning wines and a very entertaining tour. Mein Frau und ich hatten einen tollen Tag im Douro-Tal mit Gustavo, der uns in seiner komfortablen Mercedes E-Klasse sicher und souverän zu den schönen und ruhigen Orten im Douro-Tal brachte. Dank seiner Auswahl mussten wir uns nirgends die Orte mit anderen Touristengruppen teilen, meistens waren wir sogar für uns allein. Am beeindruckendsten war es, ganz allein auf der großen Terrasse von „Quinta do Seixo“ (Sandemann) zu sitzen und bei einem leckeren Port Tonic die Ruhe und den wunderbaren Blick auf den Douro zu genießen. Auch die spätere Weinprobe auf dem Weingut „Quinta da Pacheca“ konnten wir in aller Ruhe im Schatten von Bäumen genießen. Am Ende der Tour hat Gustavo noch einen außerplanmäßigen Abstecher nach Amarante gemacht, wo wir erneut ohne andere Touristen den Blick von der malerischen Brücke genießen und die dortige Kirche besichtigen konnten. Gustavo gibt einem das Gefühl, nicht von einem klassischen Tourguide begleitet zu werden, sondern von dem „Freund eines Freundes“ (zumindest zu Beginn kennt man sich ja nicht), der einem seine Heimat zeigt und dabei mit seinem Wissen nicht nur über das Douro-Tal und den dortigen Weinanbau, sondern auch über Portugals Geschichte beeindruckt. Gleichzeitig zeigte er auch großes Interesse an dem, was aktuell in Deutschland passiert. Es wurde nie langweilig während der ganzen Tour.Ein toller Tag mit Gustavo im Douro-Tal

Anselmo is a great guide. He communicated with us the day before the trip, and was prompt to pick us up. As we drove from Barcelona to the Douro valley, he gave us several options on how to spend the day, to find the best fit for us. We had coffee and local pastries to start, and then an amazing scenic drive through the valley with several stops to get out and enjoy the beauty. We toured several wineries, had an amazing lunch, and enjoyed the history of the wine making in the valley that Anselmo provided. Overall it was a fantastic day, I can't recommend Anselmo enough!! Anselmo is fantastic! He is friendly, knowledgeable and passionate about port wine and the Douro Valley. It took about 1.5hrs to drive out to the valley from Porto. Anselmo was a great driver and the journey was overall very pleasant. In addition to taking us to two wineries in the valley, Anselmo also made a point to show us "the real Douro" and we stopped at a local cafe in the town for espresso, pastry and a small port wine. It was perhaps our favorite part of the tour! Anselmo took us down into the valley on a road he discovered as an avid biker. The road allowed us to drive down to the river through the terraces and vines with extraordinary views the whole way. Overall, such an amazing experience. We are already planning on recommending Anselmo to our friends who are visiting Porto in the fall. He was perfectly informative, but didn't overload us with details. The whole experience felt more like a local friend showing us around than a formal tour!Highly recommend the Douro Valley tour!

Gustavo took us on a lovely drive through the beautiful Douro Valley and shared many interesting facts about the agricultural history of this region of Portugal. Gustavo is a witty and wonderful conversationalist, quite knowledgeable about his country’s history, and he speaks excellent English. The scenery throughout the drive was spectacular, and we had opportunities to take pictures and ask questions, and every stop along the way was delightful, as was the wine we tasted. We also stopped at a traditional Portuguese restaurant in a quaint and charming little village and ate a delicious meal accompanied by some excellent wine. Anselmo did a fabulous job creating an amazing experience for my family. We left a little earlier than 9 am to beat the rush of other tourists and he look us wine tasting to two different wineries, each of which has great wine and fantastic views. My wife and I booked our Douro day trip at the last minute, and it proved to be a great decision. Our guide and driver, Rui, was fantastic and made our tour very enjoyable. We were picked up on time and the ride to the Douro Valley seemed short as Riu filled the time with local knowledge of Porto and surrounding areas. Once in the Valley, we found Riu to be extremely interesting with facts and history along the drive. Riu was also very flexible as we adjusted our tour based upon our interests. Our group of 4 recently had an AMAZING day tour of the Douro Valley with Alselmo celebrating my sisters birthday. He arrived promptly and introduced himself and we started the tour in his comfortable transportation. Alselmo shared history along the way and lots of laughs. During the tour we took a hour boat tour, which turned out to private, since no other passengers joined us. We brought a speaker with us, sang and sipped port down the Douro river. Next we visited CROFT vineyards, one of which we tasted port and he gave us the history of the types of port and a tour of the vines. He actually stopped at his local bakery and provided the traditional pastry during that tasting. We also visited Quinta Do Val Moreira vineyard that had the most amazing view of the Douro Valley. Alselmo scheduled a traditional Portuguese lunch, wines and dessert. Alselmo made it special by advising the winery that it was my sisters birthday and they made a cake just for her. After lunch we toured the winery and bought wine. Finally he took us to a look out site that had the most amazing view and then down to St. Vincent's church where we stopped next door for farmers port. I can't thank Alselmo enough for making my sister Colleens birthday so memorable. We had so many great laughs during the day. We all agreed that touring with Alselmo through the Douro Valley was the best day of our 10 day trip. Thank you Alselmo Amazing day with Alselmo

My wife and I had a fantastic day with Gustavo touring the Duoro Valley from Porto. He picked us up on time from our hotel in a late model Mercedes which was immaculately clean and extremely comfortable. His knowledge of the area and of Portuguese history and culture made our conversation as easy as talking to a friend, which now Gustavo is. We mentioned our interest in tasting dry wines and we visited two wineries with tasty offerings of both dry and sweet. He also stopped off at several view points to showcase the valley. We took great interest in watching a river cruise ship pass through a very large lock, a rise of perhaps 10 meters or more. We stopped at a lovely family owned restaurant for lunch and it was so good! We had the goatling with rice for two people and it fed us all. Gustavo’s wine recommendation was perfect! It was a full day of pleasant conversation and we learned a lot about the Douro and Portugal. Thanks, Gustavo! I will recommend him to everyone I know coming to Porto.Go With Gustavo!

Gustavo is very knowledgeable and we learned a lot on this trip. The scenery was breathtaking, and Gustavo showed us local places where the tour buses don't stop. Since surprisingly, there was no traffic on the way back to Porto and we arrived earlier than we had anticipated, Gustavo drove us around Porto and showed us some sights that we had not been to before. We (a group of 4 friends/2 couples) booked Anselmo for a private tour to the Douro Valley this October. The forecast was terrible but Anselmo was convinced we would be fine and he was right. As soon as we came through the mountains from the city side the skies cleared and we even had some sun. First of- Anselmo is a good driver so I could relax in the car which was great. Also his English is excellent which is a bonus. He is funny, friendly and knowledgeable about the area, landscape, history and about wine and port in particular. We learned a lot and he answered all of our questions patiently. He took us to incredible spots and we ate and drank like royalty and had a boat ride and just really enjoyed the atmosphere. There was no checking his watch and herding us along. We really felt like we could take our time and really experience the beauty around us. The personal touches really make a private tour so worthwhile. I would highly recommend Anselmo and his enthusiasm and love for his city/country and region. From the moment that Anselmo picked us up in the morning, we felt like we were taking a road trip with an old friend. Spending the day with Anselmo felt less like a tour and more like a custom experience, with the comforts of a 5 star private excursion, but the stories, interactions and special touches that you can only feel with someone you trust and who you know has you in good hands. We had a fun day out with Orlando who was the perfect host. He had lots of stories to share and we had some good laughs along the way too. The wine tasting was a lot of fun and Orlando took us to some spots of great beauty and took photos of us. We enjoyed the boat ride also and the whole day was relaxing and fun. The weather started out cloudy and rainy but I’m sure it was his power that made the sun come out at just the perfect times. Thanks for a memorable day Orlando! Do the Douro!

Our tour with Orlando was nothing short of amazing! We laughed all day and his love for the area was very apparent through his knowledge and stories. He picked us up right on time, and his van was very tidy. I also really appreciate how much caution he took as he drove through the valley as many other drivers were being reckless. The wine tour was great and the place he selected for lunch was top tier with a perfect view of the valley. And to top it off, he has an eye for great photos. The pictures he captured are some of my favorite from our entire trip. If you’re on the fence about booking this tour, DO IT! Thank you Orlando for such an unforgettable experience!!Such an amazing experience!!

We had a wonderful authentic experience, a full day out in Duoro Valley with Anselmo. He's very knowledgeable and personable, he introduced us to extra dry white port and portotonics, among so many other things. We visited a small local town, where we saw them making port, of course we had to try some farmers port, along with delicious Pasel de Nata. We went to two port wineries and had a lovely delicious lunch, with a Duoro Valley view. Anselmo is experienced and engaging, we found out later on vacation, just how important a seasoned tour guide is, makes a world of difference. A perfect day!!!!!!A fantastic day out in Duoro Valley
