Joao is amazing. So kind and thoughtful and interesting! He knew such a wide range of history and fun facts about Lisbon, and especially the Jewish community that left us thinking and wondering more! He did a great job pointing out tips of places to go and ways to make the city more accessible (hidden elevators, escalators, etc.) and he was awesome to send us a detailed list of many more recomendations and followed up on the various things we spoke about. He was able to make the tour interesting for our 10 year old daughter and also was sensitive to the heat that day, and kept looking for spots with shade where we could talk comfortably. Definitely book your tour with Joao - you won't be disappointed!Amazing tour!

João is an excellent guide. He shared his historical knowledge of the city and the country with us. He gave us his personal insights and understanding of the Jewish heritage in Lisbon. He took us to the modern memorial stone. There isn't much left behind of 300 years of Jewish presence due to the destruction caused by the earthquake. It wiped out more than half the city. He was sensitive to the fact we weren't used to walking the steep hills of this beautiful city. He took us to see some amazing views. Finally he showed us a great place to eat dinner. Given João’s reviews, our expectations were pretty high, and he did not disappoint. João was relaxed and a pleasure to be with. He was eager to share his deep knowledge of Lisbon’s history and to also give us a sense of her as a modern, living city. We especially enjoyed his tour of the Mouraria which we likely would not have otherwise seen. My husband and I were traveling through Portugal ending our trip in Lisbon. We decided to take a tour of the city to learn more about it. We looked at several other tour companies and tour guides and chose to go with João, and we felt like we hit the jackpot the moment João began our tour! João was not only very knowledgeable about the city of Lisbon in general but also about the history of Portugal and Lisbon as it portrayed to us and our questions and interests. He led us through lovely neighborhoods, leading up to beautiful vistas, overlooking the city, explaining to us about the different governments and policies that have shaped Portugal to become what it is today. Ricardo led us on a jewish walking tour of Lisbon...while there is not that much to see, he was knowledgeable, warm and his english is great. He even picked us up at our hotel and drove us to the first stop, which was very helpful as my husband is not a great walker. And then he drove us back to our hotel...again very helpful. I would hire Ricardo again. He was a delight to be with and taught us a lot about Lisbon.Ricardo went above and beyond!

Absolutely loved our walking tour around Lisbon with Ines. She offered to meet us at our hotel which we greatly appreciated. We booked a last minute tour of Lisbon’s highlights and hidden gems and were lucky enough to have João as our guide. Even though he just finished a prior tour, João was enthusiastic, warm, engaging, and clearly loved sharing his love of his city with us. João was very knowledgeable and just a great story teller, bringing Portugal’s history to life. We walked through several neighborhoods learning about their place in Lisbon’s history as well as important literary figures, famous places, and getting a great idea of the layout of this beautiful and vibrant city. Our three hours passed too quickly and ended with a delicious round of ginja. I traveled solo for my first trip to Lisbon. Rodrigo was the perfect choice for a tour guide. He knows literally everything about the city and its rich history and is friendly and funny. Rodrigo was also very flexible and able to show me areas and shops that met my interests. And, his little sidekick, Poznan, is the perfect ambassador for the city. Her tail never stops wagging she greeted everyone with excitement. It was a great tour and I cannot recommend Rodrigo highly enough for solo travelers, families with children or groups. Great fun in Lisbon!

This was our first time in Portugal, and the day with Lius was one of the best experiences we've had! He communicated with us before the tour and accommodated with a later start and ending due to personal reasons. We never felt rushed. He was highly knowledgeable about the history and the details of everything. He provided history along the way, an added bonus! He also gave us a brief but nice shopping break in Cascais. I cannot imagine this tour without a guide like Lius. He provided us with excellent touring tips for the following day. He is also super fun! This was our 1st time in Portugal and this tour enabled us to see Obidos, Fatima, and then remain in Nazare, our next destination after Lisbon. Our tour guide Luis was absolutely fantastic! He was really fun to travel with and extremely knowledgeable about the history of all places en route! We never felt rushed and had the perfect amount of time at each town. And when we arrived in Nazare, he assisted us in checking in to our next hotel and orienting us to other aspects (restaurants, etc). Again, we chose not to return to Lisbon. We had a wonderful three-hour tour with our guide, Lisa, who was incredibly accommodating from start to finish. Lisbon can be a tricky city to navigate, so it was a huge help that she met us right at our hotel. She gave us great local tips—where to eat, how to save money, and what’s actually worth spending on. She tailored the tour to both of us, even though we had different interests, and struck a great balance between history, hidden gems, and some fun street art. Her personality was warm and engaging, and she’s a fantastic listener. As fellow Americans, we felt instantly at ease with her, but it was clear she really understands and loves Lisbon. Luis did a wonderful job keeping us informed and meeting us in a timely manner. Saw so many churches and beautiful sights, such as the Sao Roque, the Gloria elevator, the Se church, church of St. Dominic, history of the area, the plazas, the people and Porteguese rulers. We passed by so many areas and learned so much! Also had time for a water break, cherry liquor (ginjinha), and custard pastries! It was so worth doing, I highly recommend.wonderful day in Lisbon!

Lisbon was our last stop on our week in Portugal and we definitely saved the best tour for last. Luis was friendly, engaging and very knowledgeable. We ventured to Sintra, Pena Castle, Caiscase and saw some Lovely beaches along the way. Our Full day tour included enough free time to shop and have a great lunch at a restaurant that Luis recommended. Luis arrived on time. After finding I had a day free in Lisbon, I was lucky enough to book a last minute tour with Inez! She even offered to change the meeting place to make it easier for me walking there. A delightful experience. It is wonderful to experience her enthusiasm about Portugal and its history. She went Above and beyond to check the cleanliness of a public toilet before we used it- I would never even think of asking someone do that! Sunday am was perfect with less crowds. A savoury treat at my request site the pastel de nata are so addictive. Inez spontaneously shared her amazing singing at one point. Since she’s a professional- big surprise- it was so lovely! She recommended some other spots- Belem - and showed me where to catch the tram.that a must do was trying the pastais de Belem! Done, and delicious! A perfect day! Unexpected delight to tour with Inez!

Veerle heeft de voorbereiding van ons dagprogramma en de ontmoetingsplek perfect geregeld. Veerle reageerde snel en goed op onze vragen vooraf over bijvoorbeeld tips restaurants. Dat was heel fijn. Veerle was netjes gekleed en we vertrokken op tijd via de trein naar Sintra. Vanaf het begin tot het einde was ons contact met Veerle prettig en relaxed. Veerle is een open mens en oprecht belangstellend. Zij vertelde ons veel waardevols over Portugal, Lissabon, Sintra en de mensen die daar wonen. We hebben een prachtige dag met haar beleefd en we bevelen haar als gids zeker aan. Een eerlijk oordeel geven over de prijs/kwaliteit verhouding vinden we lastig. Een dagtour met een privé gids was voor ons namelijk de 1ste keer. Wat ons hierbij zou helpen is een specificatie van de opbouw van de totaalprijs van 400 euro. Bijvoorbeeld de verhouding tussen de overheadkosten en het salaris van Veerle.Een prettige gids met waardevolle info

I don’t usually rate unless the tour was exceptional. We loved spending our morning with João. We saw places we never would have found ourselves, heard great stories about history, both remote and recent. First off, I have to say that Inêz was available within minutes as our original tour guide canceled unexpectedly. So thank you once again for filling in on such short notice. We walked through amazing neighborhoods, heard about the amazing history of Lisboa, tried Pastéis de Belém once again, and enjoyed her pointing out so many little details of structures, monuments, and the history of the city and people. She was able to answer all our curious questions and you could see that she was happy to share her favorite city she calls home with us for a few hours. She even had pointers for some of the cities that were on our itinerary next.
